Details

St. John's Wort is aesthetically attractive in a garden, for its abundant, long and glowing flowering in summer, with a warm golden yellow color.

It is one of medicinal plants traditionally most used in Europe, its effectiveness being acknowledged by the pharmaceutical industry (ingredient in remedies against depression disorders, burns, and sunburns). St. John's Wort still finds many other therapeutic applications thanks to its properties: analgesics, antiseptics, antispasmodics, astringent, cholagogue, digestive, diuretic, expectorant, resolvent, sedatives, stimulating, wormers, and vulnerary.

Flowers and leaves can be used as a source of natural dyes for red, yellow, bronze and green, which can be very light and wash fast depending on the dyeing process.

Hypericum perforatum is easy to grow. It withstands poor and dry soils in summer, but can enjoy watering, which promotes its growth. Always find him a very sunny exposure all day.
