A fairly slow growing, majestic tree, very impressive when it gets older - some Oaks are several centuries old.
You can plant it in the ground or grow it in a magnificent bonsai.
Oak wood is used in carpentry for its hard, moisture-resistant, and durable wood; it also serves as fuel.
The branches can be crushed to form a mulch. The leaves are slug repellent, but one should be cautious as they can also inhibit plant growth.
Quercus robur is a very good source of dye thanks to its tannic contents. For example, we can obtain from:
Acorns were used in Europe as a coffee substitute once roasted. Nutritious, they are not easily digested and require preparation. They can be ground into flour and used as a thickener in various recipes or mixed with cereal flour for bread and pastries.
Finally, the Pedunculate Oak has medicinal properties: Antiseptic, Astringent, Decongestant, Hemostatic, and Tonic.
Plant your Oak tree in full sun, in any type of soil. This tree will stand up to everything once established, but it is best to water it regularly the year of planting until it has established its root system.
