Details

Every garden should have some Aquilegia vulgaris. The plant will thrive near shadowy areas of the garden, where it receives protection from the sun during the hottest hours of the day, but gets some sun in early morning and late afternoon. In spring, Wild Columbine provides a visual feerie with its multitude of large flowers of the purest and most beautiful purple. With its characteristic and original shape, flowers bloom in aerial bouquets on each plant.

Although the Columbine is toxic, it has a long tradition as a medicinale with Anti-anxiety, Astringent, Depurative, Diaphoretic, Diuretic, and Parasiticide properties.

We find the wild species proposed here to be much more robust and aesthetic than many cultivars. If you let the plant produce seeds, it quickly naturalize in your garden.
