Solanaceae. South America. H 0.8m x L 0.5m. Z9. Perennial evergreen shrub. Jerusalem Cherry is a reknown house plants, decorative, highly regarded for its white flowers followed by bright orange fruits resembling small cherries scattered over deep green foliage in a most remarkable contrast. The fruits form during summer and persist until spring. They are not edible, ingestion causing gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders. Solanum pseudocapsicum is easily grown. It enjoys partial shade but can tolerate full sun. On a balcony or in the garden, it will survive mild frosts and usually will grow back from its stump next spring.

Sow 3 seeds per godet in early May, then repot in June, in a good loam for house plants if you want to make decorative pots for indoor or balcony. You can also plant your Jerusalem Cherry in the garden, in shade or partial shade, in June, in loamy and fresh soil. The first flowers may appear the year of sawing, but the plant gets really decorative on the second year. Repot house plants every spring, and bring them fertilizer for indoor plants from spring to fall. Water copiously in times of growth, slightly the rest of the year. Cut the less vigorous branches on elderly plants. With these few guidelines, you will enjoy a vigorous Jerusalem Cherry for many years.
