Amaranth. South America. H 1.5m x L 0.6m. Z9. Annual. Pretty colorful and very decorative plant, easy to grow, and non invasive. It was traditionally cultivated by Native Americans for its leaves (vegetable, source of purple dye) and represented an important food source in their diet. The young leaves can be eaten like spinach and are really delicious. The foliage of this variety can also be used as a dye (purple). A must have in your vegetables garden as well as in the background of flower beds for ornamental effect with the foliage's colour and inflorescences. Sow directly in place in May after the last risks of frost, full sun. Watering in dry soil and during drought periods, low maintenance. 1 bag of 0.1g (approx. 100 seeds).
