Details

Coriander is a Mediterranean plant from the Apiaceae (umbellifera) family, cultivated as a condiment and sometimes as a medicinal plant. It is one of the basic aromatic plants to have in your vegetable garden.

Its fresh leaves give a condiment (salads, soups, sauces, etc.), and its dried fruits give a spice (seafood, fish, rice, curries, etc.).

Cilantro is also used as a fungicide, insecticide, and repellent, as well as a source of essential oil (food flavoring, perfumery, aromatherapy).

Coriandrum sativum is a medicinal plant with the following properties: Antidiarrhoeal, Appetizer, Aromatic, Carminative, Depurative, Expectorant, Narcotic, Stimulant, and Stomachic.

Very easy to grow, choose a sunny location in your patch of aromatic plants (or in a balcony for this purpose), in well-prepared soil enriched with organic matter for a better growth and a more abundant harvest.

Sow in place in March-April in regions with severe winters, in September in areas where the frosts are not too severe.

Your cilantro will spontaneously reseed and grow back each year if you do not harvest all the seeds.
