Lamiaceae. Europe. H 0.6m x L 0.5m. Z7. Perennial. Hyssop is a low shrub with aromatic dark green foliage covered with erect inflorescences, intense blue, beautiful, meliferous and highly attractive to bees and butterflies, blooming for many weeks in summer. It is therefore a remarkable plant. Hyssopus officinalis has many uses, including condiments (very aromatic foliage), fungicides, repellants, and medicinal (long medicinal tradition having been regarded as a panacea hyssop: Antiseptic, Astringent, Carminative, Diaphoretic, Emmenagogue, Expectorant, Pectoral, Stimulating , Stomachic, tonic and vasodilator). Its internal use should however be careful because the essential oil of the plant is neurotoxic. Sow in warm soil in April-May, in pots for transplanting plantlets in place in early summer, full sun. Although Hyssop is frost resistant, you may better protect it from the damp cold of winters that can rot the roots. An easy plant without maintenance that any gardener should grow with other medicinal herbs as well as in flower beds. 1 bag of 0.1g (approx. 100 seeds).
