Details

Large bush or small shrub native to subtropical regions of South America, up to 3000m altitude

Its lanceolate, pointed, lemon-green leaves are arranged in whorls of 3 leaves per node along woody stems ending in a spike inflorescence of small white and mauve flowers

The whole plant gives off a strong lemony scent

Aloysia citriodora is naturalized in many areas with a Mediterranean climate, and grows in open ground in the south of France

Although not hardy, Lemon Verbena is relatively hardy to cold : It can withstand -15°C with protections - the plant will grow from its stump next May

Lemon Verbena leaves are used in pleasant digestive infusions, in potpourri, or to repel insects (flies and mosquitoes)

Aloysia triphylla extract is used for candies and perfumes
