Cedronella canariensis - Balm of Gilead - Seeds, 1 packet
Cedronella canariensis is an aromatic plant from Mediterranean climates, with a very powerful, pleasant resinous scent, reminiscent of cedar and camphor.
It is a non-hardy plant that must be protected from frost in winter.
It will grow back each spring and form rapidly large tufts with tender green vegetation.
At the top of the stems populated with trifoliate and tender-green leaves appear all summer long, dense spikes with candy-pink flowers, contrasting nicely with the green foliage.
Balm of Gilead is used in perfumery, potpourri, incense, and herb tea.
Grow Cedronella in full sun and shelter from frost.
Robust, vigorous and easy plant, rarely found in nursery catalogs.
Sow in April-May, and start like basil.
Germination is slow and erratic because the seed needs a lot of sun and heat to germinate.
Transplant outside in June or plant in a large pot.
