Common Plantain is a wild plant with broad leaves in rosette very frequent in France and Western Europe
Plantago major is a traditional medicinal plant in our western pharmacopoeia, and has many properties: Astringent, Softener, Depurative, Diuretic, Expectorant, Hemostat, Laxative, Ophthalmic, Refrigerant and Anthelmintic
Roman soldiers already used its haemostatic properties to stop their bleeding and promote healing of the wounds on their feet possibly caused by long marches, by adding leaves of Plantain in their shoes
Very young leaves taken from the central bud can be added raw to a salad to flavor with porcini aromas
The variety Rubrifolia has a particularly decorative foliage with deep purple hues, superimposed on soft greens or exclusive depending on sun exposure
A decorative form to be installed in the front of flower beds for its beautiful and permanent color touch
