Cucurbita pepo - Lady Godiva Winter Squash - Seeds, 1 packet of 15 seeds
Cucurbitaceae. South America. H 0.4m x L 2m. Z10. Annual. Lady Godiva pumpkin (agricultural obtaining) is botanically a runner zucchini that produces a large round fruit with aesthetic green and yellow skin. Its flesh tastes very poor but the variety is highly regarded for its abundant production of naked seeds (without bark). Delicious, the seeds are rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. Dried and eaten for aperitif or in cooked dishes, salads, soups, eventually grilled and salted. The Oil Squash is grown extensively in Austria for the green oil extracted from its seeds, Styria specialty for almost 3 centuries. This oil is excellent and renowned for health (prostate, pregnancy, skin, hair). Indeed, the seed is rich in zinc and is used against prostate disorders. It also has Anthelminthics properties (grinding, mixing in a glass of water, drink the emulsion, then taking a purgative to eliminate intestinal parasites). This naked seeds zucchini was named Lady Godiva (from Old English 'Godgifu' for 'God gift', the gift of God) in reference to a pagan fertility ritual that celebrated the rebirth of spring or othes myths involving a naked woman. Very good yield. A useful cucurbit, beneficial to health, and unique - a must have in your garden. In addition, flowers are attractive to bees and bumblebees for their pollen.
Sow the seeds in April, in warm temperature in pots and plant them late May in their final place, in a well-fertilized soil, full sun exposure. In summer, keep the soil fresh by adding a thick layer of mulch at the foot of the plant. Water if necessary. Rapid growth. Harvest fruits as late as possible in the fall, before the first frost, for immediate extraction of seeds. 15 Seeds, 1 packet.
