Details
Campanula persicifolia is a herbaceous perennial that establishes clumps of vegetation about 30cm in diameter
Its leaves are light green, tapered, smooth
They emerge in spring from a network of fleshy, stoloniferous roots, and persist in winter
They are followed by flower stalks, which unfold in summer and give aerial and graceful flowering, staggered and uninterrupted over several months
The flower, 2 to 3 cm in diameter, lavender blue, resembles a bell oriented upwards, at the center of which is a trifid pistil with curved stigmas
It is attractive to bees and meliferous
The color of the flowers is more intense in full sun, and fades in the shade, giving a pretty pastel lavender
Some plants produce white flowers
The Peach-leaved Bellflower was domesticated for its long ornamental flowering which makes it one of the essential garden plants
The flower is edible and can be used to decorate plates

Cultivation
Sow Campanula persicifolia seeds in pots in March-April
The seed is tiny and should not be buried
Sprinkle a few seeds on the surface of the potting soil and pack lightly
Keep the soil moist by capillary watering and expose to the sun and lukewarm
Grow the seedlings for a few weeks and when they have strengthened enough to go into the garden, plant them in their final location
Choose a sunny spot, for instance in a flower bed, a rockery, or a high border
Any type of soil is suitable, but more fertile soil will allow for more spectacular flowering
Campanula persicifolia is a plant without maintenance, disease-free, pest-free
Cut off dead flower stems in winter
