Details
The Perennial Sweet Pea is only cultivated as an ornamental plant for its clusters of pink, pale pink, and purple flowers which follow one another throughout the summer, and its bluish-grey foliage
It represents an alternative to the Annual Sweet Pea, which is much more fragile, delicate, and difficult to keep
Magnificent flowering, to furnish locations where other less robust flowers would not come, to establish a large volume of seasonal vegetation, ground cover or climbing on a fence, low wall, scree, or old stump
The flowers are very attractive to butterflies, and the plant is not invasive despite spontaneous seed production
-
Cultivation
Sow the Perennial Pea in April or May in place, 3-4 seeds per location, buried 3-4 cm deep
Tamp well and water
You can also start the plants in pots under cover at the beginning of April and transplant them into the ground in May
Full sun exposure, any type of soil even very poor (nitrogen-fixing plant)
The Perennial Sweet Pea grows back each year from its stump, always more vigorous and floriferous
Lathyrus latifolius requires no special care, no pests, no disease
