Details

Zinnias are annual herbaceous plants native to the dry prairies of Central America, grown in gardens for their spectacular flowers with particularly bright colors

Zinnia elegans has been domesticated in hundreds of varieties, dwarf, medium, tall, with single, double, or full flowers, and colors covering the entire rainbow but blue

We offer a color mix of tall plants - mainly pink, red and orange - for tall cultivated beds

Uninterrupted summer and fall flowering

Cultivation

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec

Zinnia elegans grows in full sun, in moderately fertile soil
(in fertile soil, excessive vegetation to the detriment of flowering will require staking)

Zinnia likes heat and tolerates drought, but may need watering when its leaves show signs of thirst

It's an easy plant

Sow in pots in April, in the nursery, and transplant in place in May

Germination is fast and easy

You can also sow in place in May directly, when it is no longer frosty

The seedlings must absolutely be protected from snails and slugs

No maintenance other than removing dead flowers if they become unsightly

Grow mixed with Tagetes erecta for a most striking contrast of colors
